Advice
“Make me a supermodel!”
Well, I can’t do that, but I can tell you how to help yourself! The first thing is what I tell everyone… There are billions of beautiful girls everywhere so beauty won’t get you to the top without a good personality! If you’re not easy to work with and enjoyable, then they will move on to the next girl who is fun to work with and beautiful.
Also, know your boundaries and rights. You have the right to bring someone along, and you should for comfort and safety. There should be no reason that you can’t.
Also, never let anyone tell you that you’ve got to get naked to model. If you’re not comfortable, then don’t do it! And if you do get naked make sure it doesn’t cross the trash line because that won’t get you anywhere but penthouse. Lol (unless you’re in to that kinda thing…)
Think about what kind of modeling you want to do. Fashion, beauty, lingerie, athletic, commercial, and so on. Then start on your portfolio. The larger the variety, the better! You need all kinds of looks in your portfolio. Most of the time a modeling school is not the answer. If the teachers know so much then why aren’t they modeling, makin’ the big bucks?!
After you have built your portfolio and have studied numerous high fashion magazines, it’s time to head out and find an agency. First you need to do research on the agency. Are they reliable? Are they going to treat you fairly? Then go to open casting calls. You will be told time and time again, “NO,” but if you have it in you, you won’t give up, and eventually someone will sign you.
When you do get a contract make sure you take it to get looked over by a professional. Contracts can be tricky, and agencies can be getting rich while you’re picking up a second job for extra money. Feel free to take it to more than one agency, and take time to think about what you’re about to sign. Then even after you are signed, you still have to work, work, work!
