Cover Girl commercial!
I am so embarrassed that I cussed in front of all them important people. OMG why did I do that
Shwuuu I knew the Cover Girl commercial would be the hardest for me, and I may not have done the best but I’m quite proud that I didn’t get so overwhelmed that I shut down, since that is what dyslexia can do to you. I liked how even though I had the biggest obstacle to overcome I still stayed positive and pushed forward. My worst fear used to be reading out loud in school, and now here I am reading out loud in front of the judges of ANTM and Kim Kardashian and on national television! Dyslexia can really control your life, but I refuse to let it. I believe I get stronger and stronger all the time and want to conquer my dyslexia and reach out to other dyslexic people. I feel like dyslexic people have been put to the side and had no voice and I will not take it anymore. I suffered so much throughout my life because of it. I could never learn anything in school because of the embarrassment of not being able to read. I am always so shocked when I find that the school systems never know nothin’ about dyslexia. How can they say ‘no child is left behind’ when I think every dyslexic child is left behind. I really want to become pro-active in the dyslexic community and help others and myself as much as possible.
Love, Laura
Hey Laura.
it’s great that you’re setting out to help out people with dyslexia.. my sister in particular has dyslexia and she was made fun of because her teacher told her schoolmates that she has it. (because her schoolmates thought it was some kind of mental disease.. gees..). It really smashed her self-esteem and part of her future as well… thanks for planning to make a difference in the dyslexic community
Laura you rock! some dyslexic people just gives up on their future and life and goes down the wrong paths, i know cause im surrounded by some but others, like you, conquers it and comes out as a better person. I love how you are so inspiring to others and especially for me. You make me feel like i should try to be an even better me because I dont have any conditions bringing me down! Keep on giving great shots and know that your fans loves you and will always support you!
Now that the competition is over, I wish you the brightest future in your endeavors. You ROCKED!! in all ways… I thought you were the best…Bless!!!
When I saw you getting stucked with silence in the interview I was turning red in my seat. Like omg this reminds me a lot of my thesis deliberations when I had a mental blockage for like 45 secs! In front of panelist which were important people btw.
I can relate. You’re very inspiring Laura
Keep it up!
The fact that you have dyslexia yet you still managed to produce a passable Cover Girl commercial is so impressive. You proved yourself a trooper for not breaking down and giving up. Congratulations!
I was wondering if I could ask a question though. What was your favorite photoshoot (so far) and your least favorite?
You are the prettiest!!!
I really hope you win..
You have been the best so far.. Whenver they call out.. I hope everything that you would get called first.. I am crossing my fingers.
Laura,
When we read in the Danville paper that you had made it on the show we were so very proud. We pulled out all the old Willow Grove Youth Group scrap books and looked at the pictures again. We tape the show every week and watch it after church in Springfield, IL. You are doing a great job. You are so beautiful inside and out. We love how you are kind to everyone and don’t get involved in the back stabbing, etc. We pray for you and your career – keep up the good work.
Hey Lou;
Every time I log on here and read these comments I get all cry babyish; and I can’t wait to get my computer working better – because the people here at the library think I might be a little insane. I come here to do my homework and end up spending the whole time reading up on you and crying a little; I’m not sure why – I guess its pride and fear all at the same time. I’ve had you as my secret angel for your whole life and we are best friends but now I have to share with the whole world so I get a little afraid. I know your struggle and I know you have the heart of a mighty Lion. I knew when the rest of the world found out about you they would be falling in love; but nobody more than me (and Hannie, and your dad too) I love ya like Boone Dog loves to chew on everything; Or even more like Jackie Dog loves to pull wall paper off the wall!! We both know THAT’S A WHOLE LOT! I can’t wait for our new adventure – Taking over the WORLD!!!
Laura I think you done an awesome job better than i could have done..lol I stutter when i have to talk in front of ppl ..lol but I love watching you on ANTM I wish you the best of luck. April Findling
My family is enjoying ANTM for the first time. Having a “local girl” on the show has been what caused us to watch. We have a daughter with dyslexia. My wife is a retired teacher (Boyle Co). Most schools, unfortunately, don’t have people specially trained to address dyslexia…there aren’t funds to specially train for many and varying disabilities. My wife was working at a great school but no one there had the special training they needed when we started realizing my daughter had a learning challenge. My daughter, like you, learned ways to cope and we got her help. I really believe it takes all of us (schools are doing all they can, folks like you speaking out, parents that will keep on trying) to inform people. I thought you did great last night. My daughter can relate so much to all you said…and she is watching you with admiration.
Laura,
You are awesome!!!! I agree with you so much about dyslexia. My son has dyslexia and it was always a struggle for him through school. He is one of the smartest young Men I know when he hears something but if he has to read it he shuts down just like you stated. He went on to join the Marines and spent two tours in Iraqu and he has made a GREAT success out of his life even with his diability. I have GREAT confidence that you are going to do the same! You are a wonderful person! By the way my son went to Lincoln County Schools and we always had to fight for what was best for his education. Keep up the great job, we here in Lincoln County are very proud of you!
I thought you did a great job! I loved your script…it just showed your personality and your personality is as beautiful as your appearance. I can imagine that doing things (interviews, commercials) for the first time is very difficult even under the best of circumstances. We continue to cheer you on here in Danville!
You are awesome. That’s all I have to say.
